Help Better Protect Your Business
The Helcim Fraud defender looks at seven transaction factors, including the IP geolocation of the customer, the bank’s location, the addresses of the order, the transaction history, and others (more information here).
For each of these factors, it provides a score from 1 to 10. The Helcim Defender will then provide an overall score for the transaction based on the results of the 7 factors. A score of 1 means that the transaction is likely at a very high risk of being fraudulent, while a score of 10 means that the transaction is likely much less risky. The Helcim Fraud Defender tool reduces your workload by gathering this data and calculating risk factors for you.
How To Use It
One way to use the Helcim Fraud Defender is through your Helcim account portal. You can select a credit card transaction and manually click on the “Analyze Risk” risk button. From there, you can decide whether to keep the transaction or reverse it.
You can also set the Helcim Fraud Defender to automatically review ecommerce transactions. These are transactions processed online or through the API with an e-commerce indicator. For these transactions, you can set a score threshold. Any transaction below this score will automatically be reversed, and a DECLINE transaction message is sent to the customer at the time of the transaction.
Finally, you can also make an API call to the Helcim Fraud Defender with any transaction ID in your processed history. The API will return detailed information about each factor and score levels, as well as bank BIN information on the credit card.
Using the Helcim Fraud Defender is an excellent and simple step you can take to reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions and chargebacks. The tool is included with every Helcim account at no extra charge - contact us or sign-up today.
