24/7 Fraud Monitoring Center
Helcim merchants are backed by our 24/7 fraud monitoring center, where transactions are under constant surveillance by analytic software and security staff members. When a potential card fraud is detected, the merchant is immediately notified of the transaction's potential risk exposure with the collaboration of our security team.
Address Verification Service (AVS)
The Address Verification Service (AVS) is available on all of Helcim's transactions in both retail and online environments. It is supported world-wide by American Express and in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom for Visa and MasterCard participating banks.
When a transaction is performed, the billing address of the cardholder is requested and verified with the rest of the transaction information. A response code is than provided by the issuing bank indicating whether the addressed entered by the customer matches the billing address on file at the bank. This service was designed to reduce card-not-present risks by adding a layer of verification to online transactions and providing merchants with the opportunity to better manage their shipping risks.
Helcim encourages merchants to develop internal policies to use AVS as a way to enhance their fraud protection, such as shipping orders only to addresses which match the cardholder's billing address.
Card Verification Value (CVV)
All transactions processed through Helcim's online platforms can be further validated using Visa's Card Verification Value (CVV2) program and MasterCard's Card Verification Code (CVC), as well as other card issuer's respective programs.
The Card Verification Value is a three to four digit security code that is printed on front or back of all major cards. With the value not being stored on the magnetic stripe of the card, the CVV2 program is designed to reduce fraud in the card-not-present environment by validating that a genuine credit card is being used during the transaction.
