We launched our Merchants of Helcim series to showcase some of our merchants and get to know their stories. We're so proud to be able to provide payment and software solutions for a wide range of businesses across many different industries. This series gives us an opportunity to introduce some of the great people that we get to work with every day.
We met up with Terry, the owner of Ke Charcoal Grill & Sushi, to tour his restaurant in this episode of Merchants of Helcim. The restaurant is close to 17th avenue in Calgary's inner city, and with two floors and a rooftop patio, there is lots of room for hungry sushi goers.
Originally a house, the space that the restaurant occupies has been transformed by Terry into a fully functioning restaurant. The inside of the restaurant features an open concept kitchen giving you an up-close view of the action. You can even see the charcoal grills as they prepare the approximately 6,000 yakitori skewers they serve each week. The decor includes murals inspired by Terry's travels to other Japanese restaurants around the world.
They opened in 2015 and celebrated their three-year anniversary at this location this year. With a second location already open and a third one on the way, Terry has big plans to expand the brand in the city.
Terry uses Helcim to take payments on the restaurant payment terminal and to manage aspects of the business. Helcim is thrilled to be working with Ke Charcoal Grill & Sushi on a restaurant point-of-sale prototype. We will be taking the input and suggestions from Terry and his team as our team works to develop this new feature, so stay tuned for future updates.
