Unlike credit card interchange rates, Interac charges flat per-transaction network fees rather than percentage-based interchange. These fees are set by Interac Corp. and apply uniformly to all processors.
Interac Debit is Canada's primary debit card network and is a great low-cost payment method for businesses accepting in-person transactions. Merchants using the Helcim Card Reader can easily accept Chip & Tap Interac transactions. We display Interac wholesale network fees on our website as part of our transparent Interchange Plus pricing.

Interac Debit has zero interchange on standard chip-insert transactions and only small flat fees on contactless (Flash) transactions — making it the lowest-cost payment method for Canadian merchants.
With Interchange Plus, you see the exact interchange cost on your statement. Helcim only adds a small, transparent margin on top.
Interac Debit does not charge traditional percentage-based interchange rates. Instead, the network charges small flat fees per transaction. Standard chip-insert transactions have zero interchange, while contactless (Flash) transactions carry a small per-transaction fee.
1 HST is charged to the acquirer/processor on network card-brand and switch fees. Interac's listed card-brand fee is $0.0158. Because this is an absorbed cost by the acquirer who is not allowed to claim ITCs in Canada, the HST on the card-brand fee cannot be used as an ITC by the merchant. This does not apply to interchange, per-transaction, or cost+ fees.
With Interchange Plus pricing, you see exactly what goes to the card network and what goes to Helcim. No hidden markups, no bundled rates, no surprises on your statement.
